William, when aged 49, married Mary Elizabeth Tartt at St Luke's. Cork City on 11th September 1862.  They had seven children, one of whom was Joseph Edward Bullen who died on 22nd March 1871 aged 15 months (see previous headstone).   When William's father, Joseph Bullen, died (the dyer and leather seller of North Main Street, Bandon - see headstone 67), William took the responsibility of caring for his sisters, namely Sarah, Mary Ann and Elizabeth Jane.  William became an eminent and wealthy business man of South Main Street Bandon.  He held the lease to 800 acres of land.

William's wife is buried in London.
