Fr. John Everard was one time Curate at Ballyporeen and later became Parish Priest of Clogheen and Burncourt. As well as being the Parish Priest, he was a fine historian and we are indebted to him for recording much that we know of Shanrahan, Everards Castle at Burncourt, and the Shanrahan Chalices. Those works also contain some information regarding the Everard family.
