Religious Art in Cork Graveyards

Event: Library Exhibition entitled "Religious Art of Cork Graveyards"

Location: LHQ Gallery in the County Library, Carrigrohane Rd., Cork

The exhibition is being hosted by the Library in partnership with the Heritage Section of Cork County Council and will be launched  by the Mayor of County Cork, Cllr. Alan Coleman, on Wednesday 4th March, 2015  at 1.15pm and will run until April 10th, 2015. The exhibition consists of a  range of Gravestone Rubbings carried out as part of the Historic Grave project www.historicgraves.com  funded by West Cork Leader, SECAD, IRD Duhallow and Ballyhoura Leader through the Rural DevelopmentFund. These rubbings will be scanned to exhibition boards with accompanying text and exhibited in LHQ gallery. The objective of the  exhibition is to show the art work that is to be found in the graveyards around us and encourage people to look for this art work themselves. All are welcome  to attend the launch. However, as space is limited you are requested to RSVP to corkcountylibrary@corkcoco.ie by Monday March 02nd

Graveyard rubbings from North Abbey, Clonpriest, Killeagh, St. Colman’s Cathedral Cloyne, Garranekennifeake, Kilbrogan, Moneycusker, Marshalstown, St. Molagga’s, Aghacross, Newberry, Kilshannig, Old Kilcorney, Clonfert.
